Professor Emerita the Hon Elsa Leo-Rhynie, OJ, CD, patron of our 90th Anniversary Celebrations is being honoured by the University of the West Indies (UWI) during their Homecoming Week, February 4-7, 2016 at the Mona campus.
Professor Leo-Rhynie, a dedicated SAHS Alumna who serves on the Foundation’s Board, is the first female to serve as both Deputy Principal and Principal of UWI. She will deliver the Homecoming 2016 Lecture on Friday, February 5. 2016 at 5:30pm in the Faculty of Law, Lecture Theatre 2, UWI Mona.
A dedicated St Andrew High alumna, Professor Leo-Rhynie will be present at our Homecoming Week Celebrations. April 10-16, 2016.
Paying tribute to the School on June 5, 2015 at the launching of the Anniversary Year, she said “I am proud, privileged and really excited to be a part of this important milestone and encourage all St Andrew girls – past and present – to join us and be part of the year’s celebration of the outstanding legacy of our school.
Elsa Leo-Rhynie has devoted her life’s work to service and research in the fields of education, gender issues and training. UWI’s newly constructed residence towers was named in her honour on December 18, 2013.
