The members of the St Andrew High School family are saddened to note the passing of one of our illustrious daughters, Ethlyn Norton-Coke.
Ethlyn who attended St. Andrew High School for Girls from 1958 to 1963, is remembered as a larger than life personality, who epitomised the school’s motto of “Life More Abundant”, and who made on impact on the lives of so many persons.
A brilliant scholar, and winner of a Government Scholarship in 1963, Ethlyn, who was the holder of several academic degrees, practised as an attorney-at-law, and a chartered accountant, and was a Lecturer in Taxation at the University of the West Indies.
At the time of her passing, she held the position of Legal and Compliance Officer at the University of Technology.
In 2011, on the occasion of the School’s 85th Anniversary she was recognised as a Trailblazer – being the first person in Jamaica to become a Certified Ethics and Compliance Professional (USA).
In 2013, she was awarded the national honour of the Order of Distinction, (O.D.) for her services to the nation in the field of Taxation.
Ethlyn served on numerous Boards and Committees in Jamaica, and will be remembered for her voluntary service and her philanthropic activities in support of the less fortunate in the society.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the members of Ethlyn’s family and to her wide circle of friends. May her soul rest in peace.
